Pre-Nursery Program

GIS IB PYP
English and Mandarin Program

Our program is targeted at children aged 2 year to 2 years 11months.

Children attend for three hours per day, five days per week.

Our program adopts an inquiry-based curriculum that is child-centered and interactive. Children learn to make new discoveries through interaction with their peers, teachers and the environment. During the Pre-Nursery year children learn to become more independent and develop various self-care skills. 


In our English and Mandarin program, our students will be immersed in an English-speaking environment. Children will be introduced to all subject areas outlined in the PYP (Primary Years Program) Scopes and Sequences during the time with their Homeroom Teacher. Chinese (Mandarin) would also be introduced every day for thirty minutes and it would be taught by a Native Mandarin Teacher. Through songs, dance and games, children will be introduced to Mandarin vocabulary that is related to the school’s current Unit of Inquiry.

In addition, children will also be taught Bible studies during the lessons to familiarize themselves with the Bible through storytelling and gameplay. Lessons are based on the main emphasis of the biblical books.

The transdisciplinary nature of the program:

The PYP acknowledges the importance of particular subject areas:

  • language

  • mathematics

  • social studies

  • science

  • arts

  • personal, social and physical education.

 

The knowledge, concepts and skills that constitute each of these subject areas are documented in detailed frameworks—scope and sequences—that set out the overall expectations for each subject within age ranges, or as a developmental continuum. 

The PYP also recognizes that educating students in a set of isolated subject areas, while necessary, is not sufficient. Of equal importance is the need to acquire skills in context, and to explore content that is relevant to students and transcends the boundaries of the traditional subjects.

PN 學前班 | 英語和普通話課程

2歲到2歲11個月兒童

一周五天 | 每天上課三小時

在我們的英語和普通話課程中,我們的學生將浸潤在英語環境中。班主任老師將與學生一起探究及學習IB PYP(IB小學項目)範圍內單元和當中概述的所有學科領域。 另外,每天將安排30分鐘的中文(普通話)課程,由母語為普通話的老師授課。通過歌曲、舞蹈和遊戲,學生將學習與當前的探究單元相關的普通話詞彙。此外,課程將以英語教授聖經,通過講故事和遊戲讓孩子們熟悉聖經。​

課程的跨學科性質:

PYP承認以下特定學科的重要性:

  • 語言

  • 數學

  • 社會研究

  • 科學

  • 藝術

  • 個人、社會和身體教育

構成每個學科範疇的知識、概念和技能,都記錄在詳細的框架(範圍和順序)中,該框架設定了各個年齡段或發展連續中各個學科的整體期望。

IB PYP 課程意識到,僅僅在一組孤立的學科範疇中教育學生是不夠的。同等重要的是在上下文中獲得技能,並探索與學生相關且超越傳統學科範疇的內容。

English and Cantonese Program

Our program is targeted at children aged 2 years to 2 years 11 months.

During the pre-nursery year, children learn to become more independent and develop various self-care skills. 

our students will be immersed in an English-speaking environment. Children will be introduced to all subject areas outlined in the PYP (Primary Years Program) Scopes and Sequences during the time with their Homeroom Teacher. Chinese (Cantonese) would be introduced every day for thirty minutes, and it would be taught by a Native Cantonese Teacher.
