ADMISSION

for K1-K3 Program

Admission for K1-K3 Program

Application Policies

**Those students who are 2 years and 8 months when they enter K1 on 1st September are eligible for admission to K2 in August in the following school year, i.e. they will be 3 years and 8 months by the following August.

**Places in K2 and K3 classes are limited, but may become available during the academic year.
If no place is immediately available your child's application will be added to our waiting list.

If the School is oversubscribed, the following considerations will be taken into account:

  • Siblings of students already attending GIS.

  • Children of past students who have attended GIS, for a minimum of three years.

  • Children who are past GIS students returning from a period overseas.

  • Children currently attending GIS Playgroup, Afternoon Extension Program or other Programs

  • Date of receipt of a complete application

There may be instances when a child may have fallen behind in his/her education due to illness etc. If this is the case, the School may offer a place in a year lower than the child’s age would normally imply. There will be Consultations from parents or guardians before such an offer is made, but the decision as to the appropriate year for the child, taking into account all the relevant circumstances, is a matter for the Principal, whose decision is final.

In accordance with regulations as stipulated by the Education Bureau and Immigration Department, all pupils joining GIS must possess a valid Hong Kong ID card, allowing unconditional stay, or must have a valid passport with authorized residency status to be eligible for a place at GIS. A visitor visa does not entitle the holder to attend any school in Hong Kong.

Student and Family Interview

The GIS staff team will review the application when all required documents and application fees are received. We will host interviews with prospective students and families. The Interview period will start in October each year. During the interview, at least one parent must accompany the prospective student for assessment and interview appointment. Being an international kindergarten, families are very important to us. We encourage parents to be involved with our school and collaborate to help their children achieve educational goals.

GIS fosters rich and diverse learning experiences, in a well-resourced and vibrant environment for our students. We support their learning journey at GIS. Please feel free to contact us at 2390 3000 or gis@gis.edu.hk We will respond to parents as soon as we have the Interview results during school office hours.
